Great Falls, Virginia- If you have never been - you should-The first time I went there I couldn't believe that I was anywhere near D.C. It's so quiet and peaceful there. I recommend the Virginia side over the Maryland one. The view is so much better-

the view may be better from VA
but the trails on MD are better
the Billy Goat Trail; as tracked out as it is getting, is an amazing trail
I grew up on that trail
my dogs grew up on that trail
my son's will soon be big enough to climb the boulders there
but
that is a secret between you and me
enough people know already
no reason to tell the world
